A big thank-you to all who came and supported Weipa Community Care at the Western Cape College Easter Market on Sunday. Several WCCA workers volunteered their time come down and sell coffee and some leftover goodies from the Bullride last year. A special thanks to Deanne who was there to sell some of our second hand books! For some time now Deanne has been volunteering at the centre and has taken control of organizing the ever expanding amount of second hand books we have for sale. She does a fantastic job and on Sunday she was determined to move stock and she achieved her goal and then some.
The weather decided to take a turn for the better and while most people probably appreciated the sunshine, it was a little too warm for the coffee to be as popular as we'd hoped. It was still a good way to get out and and present our wares to community members who don't get the opportunity to visit during opening hours.

Wacky Wednesday......
We had the a Newcomer's morning tea today. Not quite sure if we didn't advertise well enough, or maybe we've just got some shy newcomer's at the moment. We did have a couple of new faces in and it was lovely to see. Of course we managed to perk some people up with our fabulous Nesspresso© coffee and delicious sweet treats.
We also kicked off our revamped craft group. This morning's effort was a small card making exercise organised by Kylie. Elise kindly volunteered to be the new coordinator of the group and we had some really great ideas about upcoming activities, such as candle making, soap making, belt making, jewellery making, sugar paste modelling and flower arranging. It was great to see some new interest the original group dwindled , mostly due to members leaving town. New members are always welcome and remember you only need to bring yourselves. All materials will be provided for only $2! What a bargain.
This Friday, Bonnie Steele will be hosting an Enjo demonstration here at the Community Centre so if you're interested, make sure you come down and see what she has to offer. I believe there will be a lucky door prize as well.
Breaking News: WCCA will be at the Easter Markets at Western Cape College on Sunday afternoon, hoping to tempt patrons with a fresh hot coffee. It should be particularly inviting if the weather continues along it's current trend. Deanne has also generously donated her time to come down and sell some of the second hand books .We really do have a great selection and it's a great opportunity for people who don't get the chance to come and look during our opening hours. Hope to see you there..........

Welcome!
Welcome to our blog. WCCA is slowly moving into the technological age, first with the creation of our Facebook page and now a blog! We intend to use the blog as an extension of our Facebook page. A place to keep everyone updated on the finer details of what goes on around here and also to post photos and information about recent and upcoming events. From time to time we will post some useful information regarding community issues. Feel free to post comments and ask questions. Remember you can be as open or as anonymous as you like. Stay tuned............
